11 am: BIKE PARADE
Sponsored by Cook County Commissioner Gregg Goslin and the Abington of Glenview

Children, ages preschool to 9 years, are invited to step off the parade by bringing their decorated bike to the corner of Glenview Rd. and Church St. by 10:30 am. Free, no pre-registration required. Bike helmets are strongly recommended. Participation ribbons will be presented to all children. No judging involved.

11:30 am: MAIN PARADE
Sponsored by the Glenview State Bank

As proud sponsor of this year’s parade, the Glenview State Bank invites you to celebrate this community tradition by attending the 42nd annual Independence Day Parade. The 2008 parade will start at the OLPH parking lot, go west on Glenview Road, turn south on Harlem to Central, then march west on Central to its ending point at Johns Park.

New for 2008! Stay on the SafeSide. To ensure our parade remains safe and spectacular, this year’s parade route will be lined on both sides in red. Please be sure that your family, friends and neighbors stay on the SafeSide, behind the red line, to ensure their safety and the safety of the parade participants.

7:30 pm: TWILIGHT SHOW
Sponsored by Glenview State Bank

On the beautiful grounds of the Glenview Park Golf Club, 800 Shermer Rd., the Twilight Show begins with a patriotic concert by the 100-piece North Shore Concert Band. The show is climaxed by fireworks synchronized to patriotic music. For more info, call (847) 724-5670. (return to top)

Be a Home Town Hero…..Make a Donation

As we begin the final preparations for the 42nd annual Independence Day festivities, the Independence Day Celebration Commission needs your help. The fantastic parade and spectacular fireworks show cost thousands of dollars. Though we receive extensive personnel, public works and safety support at no cost from the Glenview Park District and the Village of Glenview, our direct event expenses exceed $70,000 and are paid entirely with donations made by our residents and businesses. Our ability to continue to provide this wonderful celebration depends on your support.
